3rd grade students used the technique of trace to transfer to create symmetry on these decorative sugar skulls.
Designs were created only on one side of the sugar skulls in pencil. Then the paper is folded in half and the designes are traced. By tracing, students applied pressure which transfered the pencil designs to the other half of the sugar skull printed on copy paper. The transferred lines come out faintly, however if done correctly an exact mirror duplicate of the original design is achieved. The faintly transferred lines are then retraced to finalize the symmetrical designs in pencil. Colored pencils were used to color the symmetrical sugar skulls. Finally the sugar skulls were cutout and backed with black paper to give the final product stability.
